This printer (Avery Personal Label Printer)should be transferred to status "paperweight". Apparently Avery has completely changed the specs without telling anybody. 5 different Linux professionals were unable to get this printer (bought in May 2006) to work using the driver, etc. given here. UPDATE FROM ANOTHER USER - This printer WILL work if you use the CoStar Labelwriter XL driver. (FYI, CoStar is now owned by Dymo.) Another trick is that you also must adjust your port settings to 9600, as the default port settings are too fast. The driver can be found on this website: https://global.dymo.com/enUS/RNW/RNW.html?pg=std_alp.php?p_li=&p_ accessibility=0&p_page=1&p_cv=&p_pv=1.1&p_prods=1&p_cats=&p_hidden_prods= &prod_lvl1=1&prod_lvl2=0&p_search_text=&p_new_search=1&p_search_type=answers. search_nl - scroll down on page - go to "DYMO Label Software Application Version 6.1.1 for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP" and select "Click Here" for "Read Me First Document" - download driver and install - go to Control Panel, System, "Hardware" tab, open "Device Manager" - click on the + beside "Ports" and double-click the port used to connect your Avery PLP (my printer connects to COM1) - go to "Port Settings" tab; change "Bits per Second" to 9600 (drop-down) and click "OK" - close all windows - print to printer from your application
