Edited Notes

The specification says "ESC/Page S (Host based)". The free laser printer drivers published by Epson for their other AcuLaser and EPL models do not cover this printer but the non-free (but free of charge) Epson Avasys Photo Image Print System Plus supports this model.

User Notes

http://alc900-cups.sourceforge.net offers ix86 and x86_64 Linux-CUPS-support.
-
-It installs the DLLs for 64-bit systems into the right directories.
-It also supports the C1100 driver-binary (see below) via the PPD-option "Driver=c1100".
-This allows true spooling through the provided alc900:// URI.
-NOTE: Using only plain usb:// or parallel:// URIs won't work for multiple spooled jobs
-and will set the printer into error condition. The alc900://-URI solves this problem
-
-"alc900://" backend is sucessfully tested (ix86 & partly x86_64) with
- - SuSE (9.0 ... 10.3, who will test SuSE 11?)
- - Fedora Core (focus on SELinux)
- - Ubuntu (Hoary ... Intrepit)
- - Mandriva (One-2006, 2008.1)
- - Gentoo (VLOS 1.3)
- - Slackware (Zenwalk 4)
-
-You may also use AcuLaser C1100 driver from
-http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/lpd_e.html
-...but be aware, the "out-of-the-box-C1100-driver" does not work on some newer distros
-due to bash-dialect-incompatibilities.
