For basic printing functionality use the HPIJS driver . For advanced functionality such as printer status and maintenance features, use the HPLIP driver (which includes HPIJS).

600 dpi in colour is not supported by the hardware.

Older comments:

Monochrome 600x600, color 300x300

Can use cdj500, cdj550 driver as well for color support

Must specify to get 600x600 resolution

Consumables/Refills: Cartridge, either color or monochrome

Recently acquired an old DeskJet 600.  Colour/mono appears to depend on installed cartridge.
