Comments

Also groks PCL 5c.
Model 40n includes network interface and 12M RAM.
CMYK or CMYKcm color printing.
Colors are a bit muddy on uncoated paper, but on good coated paper photos print wonderfully.
Print head loading/alignment/etc requires special software or better, this GUI tool.
I have a Gimp patch to support color model and print quality selection.
Uses generic 72-pin FPM DRAM SIMM (EDO also works); you'll want at least 16BM on top of the base 4MB . If you want 32MB, one user reports that a "32MB EDO, 72pin SIMM 60ns 8x32 2K" module works for him.
I (Grant) own this printer and am very happy with it.
This printer has been discontinued, but keeps turning up on closeout at variosu vendors like buy.com clearance, ebay, egghead, etc.

Consumables/Refills: CMY and K, or CMY and Kcm; two cartridges
